Major Toms is hosting the first ever Hello Mauao exhibition at 7pm on Saturday 26th May. Hello Mauao started out as a Facebook Page showcasing interesting photos from around Mt Maunganui, these days there’s also a website www.hellomauao.com

It’ll be a great opportunity for folks to check out the amazing images from the past year, and finally you’ll be able to see them in all their glory rather than 800px wide on the internet. There will have mounted canvas prints available for purchase on the night.

The good folks at Pacifico have provided us with a few beverages, so come on down and say g’day, have a beer and check out a few pretty pictures, it’ll be fun.

We’ve been working on this little project for a while and on Saturday 19th May we’re going to launch two brand new Major Toms beers and we want you to come try them.

Urbantramper are hitting the road next month on their “Internet Freedom is Love” Release Tour.

They’ll be stopping by Mt Maunganui to play a show at Major Toms on the 17th of May.

Urbantramper have a sweet new video out for the 1st single from their new album called Kate Bush Saved My Life.

On Saturday 5th May Major Toms is hosting the Double Denim Party. We’ve got Denim Dan and Amco Andy who are collectively known as “The Gents” locked in to play your favorite party anthems all night.

Anyone that comes dressed in Double Denim and arrives before 10:30pm will get a free Canadian Tuxedo Cocktail and a free Denim Sandwich shot! Wowzers! And there will be a $50 bar tab for whoever turns up in the most impressive denim outfit.

Next Wednesday (2nd May) we’ll be hosting the Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes tournament on our arcade game at Major Toms.

The game is a crazy combination of several classic 90′s video games. Basically you get to choose 2 characters in your team, 1 from the Marvel games and 1 from Capcom. So you might have Ryu from Streetfighter teamed up with Spiderman battling against Chun-Li from Streetfighter and The Hulk.

There’s a lot going on and the graphics can be seizure inducing but it’s a lot of fun, and game where the button mashing technique can take you a long way.

The tournament kicks of at 8:30pm with free play training from 7:30pm. It’s free to enter and the winner gets a $50 bar tab.

On Wednesday 25th April we’ll be holding the Bubble 2000 Championships. It’s a funny old game, a couple of creepy cavemen shoot different colour bubbles up the screen with your guidance. Fire a bubble at 2 or more of the same colour and they will explode. The game itself is super fun but something strange and totally awesome happens at the end of each game. You get rewarded with 80′s porn!

The tournament will kick off at 8:30pm with free play training from 7:30pm. It’s free to enter and the winner gets a $50 bar tab (and gets to look at a lot of 80′s porn on the way).
