A tribute to the consultant

June 24, 2010

Over the last few days we’ve been working on extending our collage. It’s been fun picking all the images, and one thing we really wanted to get on the wall was some photos of Geoff Morrison. When we first took on the task of transforming a run down gold colored gaming lounge called “Our Place” we got our good buddy Ryan “Morrie” Morrison to act as project manager. The place was a dump, check out some of the before photos. Morrie’s old man Geoff was our consultant, every couple of days he’d drop by to laugh at us, point out what we’d done wrong and drop such classic lines as “You know every fuckin business that’s been in this building has gone broke”.

He was actually a big help in getting us up and running, and once we were open he loved to swing by, sit at the bar and tell us hilarious stories about growing up in the Mount back in the day, and the crazy surf trips he did with his mates in his youth. Unfortunately Geoff passed away earlier this year, so as a tribute to the consultant we’ve framed a page from his photo album of him and his buddies going on a surfari to Taranaki and a mission around Australia in a Combi.
